Five Ways Alumni Can Stay Connected to EMU

Your journey at Eastern doesn’t stop the moment you step across the stage at commencement. In fact, there’s an entire team dedicated to keeping you connected with your EMU roots. The Office for Alumni Engagement works to ensure you’re in the loop with the latest events, news and opportunities to give back. Here are five ways you can stay connected to your alma mater.

Make Some Memories

Whether it’s rooting for a Detroit sports team, enjoying the holiday lights at the Toledo Zoo or cheering on the Eagles during homecoming weekend, the Office for Alumni Engagement is curating experiences just for you. The best part? You’re surrounded by fellow EMU alumni. Check out the latest alumni events on the dedicated events page.

Outside of alumni programming, we’d love to welcome you back to campus for a community event. Catch the excitement of an athletic event or see future theater stars shine on stage by checking out the EMU events calendar.

Expand Your Network

Alumni chapters give you the chance to connect with fellow alumni who live near you, share your interests or work in similar fields. Every chapter operates a little differently—from hosting events, to sponsoring scholarship opportunities to engaging students. Check out the list of EMU alumni chapters, which number more than 15.

Build Your Skills

As Eagles, we know that being a lifelong learner is important. Sharpen your skillset and earn a new credential through EMU’S Professional Programs and Training (PPAT) unit. All EMU alumni receive a 10% discount on all PPAT and Continuing Education courses.

Show Your EMU Pride

It’s time to be loud and proud about your EMU alumni status. Shop the alumni collection at Eastern Outfitters, EMU’s new apparel shop for everything you need to show the world you’re proud to be an Eastern alum. 10% of your purchase supports future Alumni Association programming.

You can also show your pride on your ride by sporting an EMU-branded license plate. Order through the Michigan Secretary of State website, and a portion of your purchase will support the Alumni Association.

Give Back

EMU’s alumni community is an asset to the success of our next generation of Eagles. Giving back looks different for everyone, and that’s why there are a multitude of options to contribute to Eastern as an alum.

The next time you clean out your closet, consider donating any professional clothing to EMU’s Career Closet. This resource provides students and alumni with free professional clothing and accessories needed for conferences, interviews, job fairs, networking events and more.

Swoop’s Food Pantry offers fresh perishable and nonperishable food to students in need, and you can help by making a food donation. Swoop’s website lists items they are currently in need of.

Additionally, if an academic program, scholarship, student organization or university resource helped you flourish, consider giving back monetarily to a cause that means something to you at give.emich.edu.
